Privacy Policy & POPIA Notice
Last updated: June 2026
This notice explains what personal information I collect through this website, why I collect it, and how it's used, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
Who is responsible for your information
Gabriel Templeton, an authorised representative of The Legacy Planning Institute (Pty) Ltd t/a Innovative Financial Advisor Services, an authorised financial services provider (FSP No. 51872), is the responsible party for personal information collected through this website. I act as the Information Officer for the purposes of this notice.
What I collect
- Name and email address, if you submit the financial assessment quiz or download the checklist.
- Your quiz answers (general, non-identifying preferences about your financial goals and situation), if you complete the assessment.
- Phone number or other details you choose to share if you contact me directly via WhatsApp, email, or the booking page.
Why I collect it
- To email you your assessment results, if you choose to share your email address for that purpose. The checklist itself downloads directly to your device — it is not emailed.
- To prepare for a consultation, if you book one, so our time together is useful.
- To send you relevant financial planning content and updates by email, only if you've shared your email address with me. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To keep a record of leads and client communications for ordinary business administration.
Who I share it with
I use the following service providers to operate this website and manage client communication. Each processes your information only on my instruction, for the purposes above:
- Klaviyo — email marketing platform, used to send assessment results and occasional updates.
- Notion — internal record-keeping tool, used to track leads and client communication.
I do not sell your information, and I do not share it with any other third party except where required by law or as part of the FAIS-regulated advice process (e.g. with product suppliers, if you proceed with a recommendation).
How long I keep it
If you don't become a client, I keep your details only as long as reasonably needed to follow up on your enquiry, or until you ask me to delete them. If you become a client, records are kept for the period required under the FAIS Act and other applicable financial sector legislation.
Your rights
Under POPIA, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information I hold about you, and request a copy of it.
- Ask me to correct or update inaccurate information.
- Ask me to delete your information or stop processing it, including unsubscribing from any marketing emails.
- Object to your information being used for direct marketing at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe your information has been mishandled.
